1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using ChiefEngineer.in ("the Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the Site.

These terms apply to all visitors, registered users, and customers — including free users, paid customers, and B2B clients.

2. Your account

• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
• You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.
• You must provide accurate information and keep it updated.
• One person = one account. Don't share accounts.
• You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account.
• Notify us immediately at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Site for any illegal or unauthorised purpose.
• Attempt to hack, scrape, or overload the Site's servers.
• Copy, resell, or redistribute our calculators, templates, or content without permission.
• Upload malicious code, spam, or harmful content via contact forms or uploads.
• Impersonate another person or organisation.
• Bypass payment for paid templates.
• Use automated bots to access content or mass-download.
• Interfere with other users' access to the Site.

4. Content & intellectual property

All content on ChiefEngineer.in — including text, graphics, calculators, formulas, templates, code, design, and logos — is owned by ChiefEngineer.in unless otherwise noted.

• Free content: You may use it for personal and commercial reference, but not resell or republish.
• Paid templates: Licensed to you for personal/business use only. Redistribution, resale, or public sharing is prohibited.
• Formulas and standards references: Provided for educational purposes. Actual standards documents must be purchased from the issuing body (BIS, ASHRAE, etc.).

If you believe your copyright has been infringed, email us with details — we will investigate and remove infringing content promptly.

5. Templates & digital products

• Templates are delivered digitally as download links after successful purchase.
• Downloads are typically instant after payment confirmation.
• Each purchase grants a single-user, non-transferable licence.
• You may modify templates for your own use but cannot resell or share modified versions.
• We may update templates periodically — updated versions are provided free to existing buyers when possible.

6. Payments & pricing

• All prices are displayed in Indian Rupees (INR) unless stated otherwise.
• Payments are processed via third-party gateways (e.g., Razorpay, UPI, cards). We do not store your card details.
• Prices may change at any time without prior notice. Prices shown at the time of purchase are final.
• Taxes (GST) may be added at checkout where applicable.
• Failed payments are not charged — but please verify with your bank.

7. Refunds

Because templates are digital products delivered instantly, all sales are generally final. However, we offer refunds in the following cases:

• You were charged but never received the download.
• The template is significantly different from what was described.
• Duplicate charge due to a payment gateway error.

8. B2B & hotel services

• Custom engineering services (design review, audits, retainer arrangements) are governed by separate agreements.
• Enquiries submitted via contact forms are not binding contracts.
• Quotes and proposals are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.
• Deliverables, timelines, and payment terms are outlined in each individual proposal.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

ChiefEngineer.in provides engineering content, calculators, and templates "as is" for reference and educational purposes.

• Calculators and formulas are verified to the best of our ability but should not replace professional engineering judgement.
• Always verify results against applicable codes (IS, NBC, ASHRAE, IEC) before applying to real projects.
• We are not liable for any loss, damage, or injury resulting from use of our calculators, templates, or content.
• Standards references are summaries — always consult the official published standards.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChiefEngineer.in and its owners, employees, or contributors shall not be liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
• Loss of data, profits, or business opportunities.
• Errors or omissions in content, calculators, or templates.
• Service downtime, interruptions, or technical failures.
• Actions of third parties (payment gateways, hosting providers).

Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (or ₹1,000, whichever is lower).

11. Termination

We reserve the right to:

• Suspend or terminate your account for violating these terms.
• Refuse service to anyone at our discretion.
• Remove content that violates our policies or applicable law.

You may delete your account at any time by emailing [email protected]. Upon termination, your right to use paid templates ceases, but downloaded files remain yours under the original licence.

12. Changes to terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated terms.

For significant changes, we will notify registered users by email.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply in full force.
